Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 29, 2025
The Short Version
We collect your email when you sign up. We use it to verify your identity and
ensure one person equals one voice. That is it. We will never use it for
anything else. We will never share it with anyone. We will never send you
ads, newsletters, or promotional emails.
If every company wrote their privacy policy this honestly, it would be one
paragraph long. Ours nearly is. But for the sake of completeness, here is
the rest.
What We Collect
When you create an account:
Your email address. Nothing else is required.
When you use the site:
Basic server logs that include IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited.
These are standard for any website and are used exclusively for security and
maintaining site functionality. They are not analyzed for behavioral patterns,
sold to advertisers, or used to build a profile of you.
When you submit content:
The text of your submission and the account it was submitted from.
When you raise your voice:
A record that your account raised its voice on a specific issue. This is used
to prevent duplicate votes and to maintain accurate counts.
What We Do Not Collect
We do not use tracking pixels, third-party analytics, advertising cookies,
fingerprinting, or any other surveillance technology. There are no hidden
SDKs loading in the background. There are no data partnerships.
We do not collect your name, location, phone number, browsing history,
purchase history, social connections, or anything else that has become
standard practice for most of the internet.
How We Use What We Collect
Your email is used for two purposes: account authentication and voice
verification. These ensure that each person has one account and one voice
per issue. Nothing more.
Server logs are used for security monitoring and debugging. They are not
cross-referenced with your account data.
Who Sees Your Data
No one outside of Dissent Human has access to any user data. There are no
third-party data processors, no analytics providers, no ad networks, no
partners.
Your email address is never displayed publicly. When you raise your voice or
submit content, only your chosen display name is visible.
Data Retention
Your account data is retained for as long as your account exists. If you
delete your account, your email is permanently removed. Submitted content
that has already been published may remain as part of the public record, but
will be disassociated from any identifying information.
Server logs are retained for a maximum of 90 days and then permanently
deleted.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies required for authentication and session
management. No tracking cookies. No third-party cookies. No cookie banners
designed to confuse you into accepting surveillance.
Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data. However, no
system connected to the internet is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee
absolute security. What we can guarantee is that we will never be the ones
exploiting your data, because we built this project specifically to fight
that practice.
Children
Dissent Human is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not
knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an
account, contact us and we will remove it.
Your Rights
You may request a copy of all data associated with your account, correction
of inaccurate data, or complete deletion of your account and associated data
at any time by contacting us.
International Users
Dissent Human serves a global audience. By using this site, you acknowledge
that your data may be processed in the country where the site is hosted. We
apply the same protections to all users regardless of location.
Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page. We will not quietly
expand what we do with your data and bury the change in legal language. That
is precisely the kind of behavior this project exists to document.
